For most Nigerians the headline question about an HMO is not "how cheap is the premium?" — it is "how long will it take to get a claim approved?". The table below ranks NHIA-accredited HMOs by average claim approval time, measured in calendar days from claim submission to final decision.
Numbers come from real claims processed on the Vetra platform in the last 90 days. A lower number is better. The platform-wide average sits around 7 days; HMOs below that bar are operating measurably faster than the market.
An approval is a final decision (approved, partially approved, or declined) on a submitted claim. We do not count claims that bounced for missing documentation. The clock starts the moment the provider hits submit.

Speed varies by HMO and updates daily. See the live ranking above for the current leaders — every number is the average over real claims processed on Vetra in the last 90 days.
Fast approvals mean providers get paid faster, which keeps them willing to treat HMO members. A slow HMO ends up with members getting turned away at provider front desks.
Directly from each HMO's operational system on Vetra. Every approval timestamp is recorded automatically — there is no manual reporting and no way for an HMO to inflate the number.
