The best HMOs in Nigeria are the ones that approve claims fastest, support the widest provider network, and maintain the highest member satisfaction. The list below ranks NHIA-accredited HMOs by Vetra's Verified Experience Score — a composite of four operational dimensions (claims speed, network size, digital experience, support responsiveness) computed from real claims processed on the platform in the last 90 days.
No user reviews. No marketing budget. Every score is derived from operational data the HMOs themselves push through Vetra — so the rankings reflect how each HMO actually performs, not how loud their advertising is.
Each HMO gets a 0–5 score on four dimensions. Claims speed measures how quickly approvals turn around. Network size tracks accredited provider count. Digital experience and support responsiveness measure how quickly members and providers reach a human. We weight all four equally and publish the breakdown on every profile.
Scores update daily as new claims flow through the platform. An HMO that's been slow this quarter can climb the rankings next quarter by improving its turnaround. We never freeze the leaderboard.

Yes. Every HMO listed on Vetra is accredited by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) of Nigeria. Accreditation status is verified against the public NHIA registry at nhia.gov.ng.
The ranking reflects measurable operational performance, not opinion. We do not collect user reviews and we do not accept payment to rank HMOs higher. Methodology is published on every HMO profile.
